DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – At a public meeting held on Monday, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) announced that the planned completion of the Twin Ports Interchange Project will be pushed back a year to 2025.
Last year some items of “historical significance” were found during construction of the I-535 and Garfield Avenue portion of the project.
The Minnesota Indian Affairs Council was contacted and further construction in the area was halted. Details about the findings have not been provided.
At the Monday meeting, MnDOT expressed hopes that four lanes would be open on I-535 by the end of this year with on and off ramps complete by the end of next year.
